“Somewhere in there I also
started my coaching career,”
Darren says. “SCCA’s Heyward
Wagner picked me up after my
Solo Nationals win in 2013 and, in
2014, he started to develop the
Starting Line program. He had
me come out and do a couple of
events with him, and it was after
two or three events he asked if
I thought I could run one.” Darren
did, and despite early nervousness,
he loved it. He also periodically
coaches for the Evolution
Performance Driving School.
Today, Darren and Chi are
giving a serious run at making
Dynasty Racing work as a
business. “Chi and I are putting
all of the pieces in place,” he
explains. “That was part of
buying the big rig 18-wheeler
and getting some marketing
stuff lined up so we can start
developing a bigger business.
The end goal is to be the
country’s top sports car racing
prep shop. We want to span from
autocross to Club Racing to
RallyCross, all the way up to the
professional series.”
At the same time, Darren insists
the secret to Dynasty Racing’s
success has been, and will remain,
keeping everything fun and
achievable. “Dynasty Automotive
has kind of become the shop that
local [Central Florida Region]
racers come to get alignments,
tires, and all the racecar type stuff.
It’s cool because we’ve built a nice
community that has been
successful in bridging that huge
gap between autocross and road
racing. The autocross guys see us
road racing, and we maybe rent a
car out to them and we coach
