and Executive Boards, this proposalhas become part of the GCR.
Up until now, the stewards anddrivers have operated with a simpleand effective couple of sentencesin the GCR that all racers shouldalready know. Let’s take a peek:
• “Drivers are responsible toavoid physical contact betweencars on the racetrack.” This isperfect – SCCA is not a contactsport of NASCAR wannabes.
• “Each competitor has a right toracing room, which is generallydefined as sufficient spaceon the marked racing surfacethat, under racing conditions, adriver can maintain control ofhis car in close quarters.” Veryfair, although rather vague.

A driver who does not usehis rearview mirror or whoappears to be blocking anothercar attempting to pass may beblack flagged and/or penalized,as specified in Section 7.” Andhere we have the rub: How is theovertaken driver to be awarethat he is being passed from ablind spot? His spider sense?
Have you ever been speared inthe inside rear wheel or door bysomeone you couldn’t see? Further, aleading driver cannot use his mirrorsafter he turns for the corner. For
